The Women’s Boat Race was won by Cambridge for the eighth consecutive year, defeating Oxford by 2.5 lengths after a clash and restart early on. This was the first time the Women’s Boat Race was stopped and restarted.
Oxford won the toss and chose Surrey, but cox Daniel Orton steered aggressively for the first few minutes with umpire Matthew Pinsent warning the Dark Blues.
Shortly before the end of the Fulham Wall, the crews came together and clashed with Cambridge 5-seat Sophia Hahn losing her blade. Umpire Matthew Pinsent stopped the race and swiftly restarted, dictating Cambridge start with a slight lead as they were in front when the clash happened.
Cambridge drew away from Oxford, with the Dark Blues still in contact as they passed under the iconic Hammersmith Bridge; but Cambridge stroke Samy Morton using her 180cm height to drive Cambridge away over the second half of the race to take victory by 2 and a half lengths. Oxford fought hard to the end but it was Cambridge collecting their eighth consecutive victory.

In the Women’s Reserves Race, Blondie (Cambridge) also defeated their Dark Blue opponents, Osiris, in a winning time of 19.17 to 19.30.
