About Annabel:
Why did you choose Secondary Science PGCE?
I absolutely love science and passing on that passion to the next generation is really important. Science forms the world we live in and it’s crucial that children understand how it works. Working with teenagers is also a huge amount of fun, they always make you laugh!
Why did you first try rowing?
I had a music teacher who rowed at Beijing as well as my Yr6 teacher being keen on rowing and they both got me into the sport, starting on an erg at an after school club and I absolutely loved it.
Who introduced you to the sport of rowing?
Andy Ciecierski at Reading Rowing Club
Where else have you rowed?
Oxford Brookes University
What are your proudest rowing achievements?
2x Henely Womens wins, BUCS gold in the Championship single, qualifying for the Princess Royal at HRR, silver at junior world champs
Do you have a favourite Boat Race? Which one and why?
2023, it was the first one I’d seen live in London and I remember watching them race past and first getting the spark that I wanted to race too, which is how I came to apply for Cambridge.
What would winning The Boat Race mean to you?
It would be a huge achievement, not just for me but for my family and the amazing support network I have. It’s something no one in my family has attempted before so it’s a huge milestone for us.
