About Catherine:
What course are you studying and what level?
Biology (MBiol, undergraduate degree with integrated masters)
Why did you chose that course?
I grew up on a farm, so was always surrounded by nature and am interested in looking at how nature and agriculture can interact sustainably allowing for both biodiversity and food production
When, where and why did you start rowing? And what do you love about the sport?
Somerville College Boat Club. Started in freshers after really enjoying a taster session and got hooked from then on. I rowed with SCBC for two years, was captain in my second year and then did the development squad with OUBC. I love how it gets me to push myself out of my comfort zone. Also the pretty sunrises are a good bonus…
What was your first rowing club and coach?
Somerville College Boat Club, James McAnallen and Adam Gillett
How has rowing and being part of the Boat Race squad impacted your life?
Rowing has taught me how to be stronger as a person, given me so many opportunities I never would have expected to have and let me meet people that I know will be lifelong friends.
