Each year the Boat Race writes another fascinating chapter in the history books and there’s no doubting that one of the biggest stories of 2023 was the maverick steering from Cambridge Cox Jasper Parish.

Anyone who has rowed on the Championship Course will know the importance of being in the channel (deepest section of the river) in order to harness the fastest water, but it isn’t always obvious to outside observers where this is.

Embracing technology we’ve plotted the exact GPS coordinates for both of the Men’s Blue Boats from The Gemini Boat Race 2023 as well as marked out the channel showing just how far both crews deviated from what would typically be the racing line were it not for exceptionally rough water conditions. The map also includes a selection of media that helps to tell the story of the race including replays of the race itself on YouTube.
