About Adam:
Why did you choose MPhil Tibetan and Himalayan Studies?
Learning the Tibetan language, as well as lectures on Tibetan history and culture. I’m especially interested in going deep on Tibetan Buddhism – approaching Buddhist philosophy (how do we live if it’s possible to break out of patterned unfulfilling lives to vastly decrease suffering through ‘seeing clearly’) from a nuanced point that doesn’t involve retreating from the world.
Why did you first try rowing?
My brother did it, and I wanted to do better at it than him!
Who introduced you to the sport of rowing?
Alex Gilchrist at St Peter’s School, York
Where else have you rowed?
N/A
What are your proudest rowing achievements?
Competing for GB at the U23 World Championships, breaking the U18 GB 2K record, winning the Head of the Charles regatta, winning the IRA regatta in the Harvard 2V
What would winning The Boat Race mean to you?
The perfect climax of a massive journey – one last dance to enjoy the beauty of being part of an awesome team doing something incredible
